The Bridgerton family is well-known in Regency London society; eight siblings, named in alphabetical order, each handsome and beautiful and full of personality. Each book in the series follows a sibling as they (willingly or unwillingly) find their true love. If you’re a fan of soapy romance, period dramas, or Jane Austen, you’ll surely find a story to love in this series.
For fans of Netflix’s new series, Bridgerton, the first book in the series is the basis for the show. The Duke and I follows Daphne as she begins her third season on the marriage mart. She despairs of ever finding a husband, as most of her suitors see her more as a friend and less as a potential wife. Enter Simon, the Duke of Hastings, and best friend of Daphne’s older brother Anthony. The pair devise a fake-dating scheme as a way to make Daphne seem more desirable and get the horde of marriage-minded mamas off of Simon’s back. But will their fake feelings turn into something more?
To check out the rest of the siblings’ stories, look for The Viscount Who Loved Me, An Offer From a Gentleman, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, To Sir Phillip With Love, When He Was Wicked, It’s in His Kiss, and On the Way to the Wedding, all by Julia Quinn. Particular favorites among library staff include Benedict’s story, An Offer From a Gentleman, and Eloise’s story, To Sir Phillip With Love.
