Purpose of Meeting
Learn about the local landmarking process from the Springfield Historic Sites Commission. The Springfield Historic Sites Commission seeks to assist in preserving the landmarked buildings and historic properties that are important links to Springfield’s past and increase awareness of the need for historic preservation throughout the City. The City of Springfield IL is a Certified Local Government that complies with the Illinois State Historic Preservation Office (IL-SHPO) and the U.S Department of the Interior Guidelines. During exterior rehabilitation, all permits associated with Local Landmarks and Historic Zoning Districts 1, 2, and 3 must be reviewed by the Design Review Committee of Historic Sites Commission in accordance with their laws. https://www.springfield.il.us/Departments/OPED/Preservation.aspx
