Event Details
Want to carve out time to read but don't want the pressure to finish and discuss a specific book? Want to learn what others are reading and low-key socialize? It sounds to us like you may be a Bookalo.
The Gathering of the Bookalos is an off-site BYOBook Silent Book Club. There is no assigned reading, you just bring whatever book in whatever format you'd like and read it quietly alongside others who are doing the same thing. That's it. It's a time dedicated to quiet reading, learning about what others are reading, and hanging with folks out in the community.
Here's an idea of what The Gathering will look like:
3:00: Meet at Wm. Van's Coffee House, grab a beverage or snack, settle in
3:15-4:15: Read quietly
4:15-4:30: Share out what we're reading and wrap-up
Registration is highly recommended.
We look forward to gathering and no pressure reading with you, fellow Bookalos.
A few other notes to consider:
PLEASE NOTE THE LOCATION AND MEETING TIME CHANGES FROM OUR PREVIOUS MEETINGS
There is a free parking lot at the location.
We will have the ability to create library cards and will have a few library books on hand that will be available for checkout.
** Please note that this event is taking place on the same day as the Secretary of State Vehicle Show that will be happening around the College and Edwards area. Wm. Van's Coffee House has a free parking lot, but traffic and parking near the area may be busier than usual due to the event. More information about the Vehicle Show can be found at https://www.ilsos.gov/services/vehicle_show/home.html **
