October is the month to celebrate library services for teens! Here are some of the great things Lincoln Library is doing for Teentober:
All programs and Raffle open to grades 6-12 (Ages 11-18)
YA Civil Civics also open to young adults (Ages 19-23)
Teentober Reading Challenge:
Read five books in the month of October in order to win five raffle tickets for our Teentober grand prize: a pair of bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones! Pick up a reading log and register for the reading challenge at the Youth Services Desk.
Participants in YA Civil Civics or Teen Time programs will also get a ticket for each program that they attend.
YA Civil Civics: Are you Smarter than an (Illinois) Eighth Grader?
Teens and young adults, come and take our Civics Challenge! We're kicking off "Teen-Tober" with our own spin on "Family Feud"
In order to become a US citizen, you have to pass the US Citizenship Test. All questions in this game are based on that test. Are you up to the challenge?
Tuesday, Oct 1st from 4:00-5:00pm in the 2nd floor multipurpose room.
Register on our website calendar or at the Youth Services Desk.
Wednesday Teen Time:
Every Wednesday from 3-4pm there will be an event for teens in the Teen Zone. (These happen throughout the school year, check out our calendar for specifics!)
October 2nd: Squishy star decorating craft
October 9th: Board game day
October 16th: Teen Advisory Group
October 23rd: Teen Book Club
October 30th: Teen Halloween
YA Civil Civics: Race to 270!
Come and try your hand at our original game, "Race to 270". It's "Risk" meets the Electoral College. It takes 270 Electoral College votes to be elected President of the United States. Can you devise the winning strategy to sway the swing states, get to the magic number, and propel your candidate across the finish line and into the White House? Tuesday, Oct 15th from 4:00-5:00pm in the 2nd floor multipurpose room. Register on our website calendar or at the Youth Services Desk.
