The collection contains documents primarily related to William G. Cantrall (1784-1867), his sons Joshua (1822-1881) and William M. (1822-1864) and the Cantrall Cemetery Association. It contains federal land grants, land indentures, deeds, election notices, justice of the peace commissions, a certification of organization, an abstract of title, and a business card. The family arrived in what is now Fancy Creek township in Sangamon County in November 1824. They settled near what is now called Cantrall’s Creek.
