The Harvard Park Neighborhood Association formed in 1989 in response to the proposed Bryn Mawr extension and was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1990. Two of the purposes of the Association, according to its by-laws are “to provide means for the members of the Association to become aware of one another’s concerns and activities” and “identify the unique and common issues, problems, and interests of the Association."
The materials in the collection range in dates from 1989 to 2019. The collection includes two versions of the bylaws, correspondence, Flyers and permits, stationery and signs, meeting agendas and minutes, attendance lists, news clippings, resident lists, Illinois laws related to gangs, Springfield Area Gang Free Task force materials, and street gang information from the Springfield Police Department, other materials related to projects HPNA was working on such as trash, stop signs, unkept properties and events they held.
