The Springfield Theatre Guild formed Junior Theatre in 1952 for youth in sixth through eighth grade. The group was led by Jane Mullett who had a Masters’ Degree in Theatre from the University of Illinois and was a teacher and theater director at the Hay-Edwards school. The guild started out holding weekly classes for the youth “in acting, stagecraft and allied subjects.” The group held productions and one-act plays.
The collection contains photographs, programs, scripts, and articles from Junior Theatre productions in the 1950s.
