John Lard and his family came and settled in Ball Township of Sangamon County in 1835. Among their children was Josiah who had a son Jacob. Jacob married Stella Leach and to them a daughter, Geneva, was born. Geneva married Louis Pitner Shepherd. Their son was Jacob “Jake” Lard Shepherd.

The M. Zwicky Sons Soap Company was brought to Springfield, Illinois from Madison, Wisconsin in 1890 by George Zwicky and his brothers Casper and Michael, Junior.

This collection is comprised of several types of items, including correspondence, flight school and pilot training materials, and flight log books for Mabel and C.R. Johnston.

The collection consists mainly of letters, most of them written to Mary Bradish in her youth ca. 1895-1900 from friends and family.

This collection consists of eight composition notebooks kept by Pearl Irene Wheeler as a student at Springfield High School and as a student at the Springfield Teacher's Training School between 1913-14.
