About the Friends
Friends of Lincoln Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of Springfield’s public library. It was founded in 1946 but reorganized in 1977 to coincide with the opening of the new library building. Friends volunteers gave library tours, held book sales, and hosted special events as part of their mission to foster the library as an active, dynamic, educational, and recreational force in the community.
Today, Friends of Lincoln Library continues to support the library, assist its staff, and encourage reading and library use. Funds from Friends memberships, book sales, and donations are used to enhance the collection, support programs, purchase equipment, and more.
