G.H. Schanbacher was born in German in 1860. He began G.H. Schanbacher and Son Church Decorating firm in 1889 and was quite successful in the Midwest.

The collection contains background information, correspondence, newspaper publicity, expense records, etc., relating to the Citizens Tribune newspaper's involvement with Golden Gloves Tournaments in Springfield from 1944 through 1956.
